Slain of all the Earth Gathering at Babylon - Jeremiah 51:49

In a previous message titled "News from Babylon in 2003" we shared how Babylon, Iraq had now become the U.S. Marines main command post for central Iraq. The significance of this development was elaborated on from God's prophecies against Babylon found in Chapters 50 & 51 of the old Testament Book of Jeremiah.
The latest developments as of a Sept. 4, 2003 Denver Post article which headlined, "Poland's army takes command in part of Iraq - move may be preview of...multinational cooperation" reveals a startling acceleration in the importance attached to Babylon in these final days.
We quote, "BAGHDAD, Iraq - The United States handed command of part of southern Iraq to Poland's military Wednesday, the transfer serving as a somewhat flawed model for the multinational cooperation the United States seeks...In Babylon, scene of the transfer to the multinational force led by the Poles, Lt. Gen. Ricardo Sanchez, the top U.S. commander in Iraq, said the United States hoped to complete the transfer after a reassessment in two weeks.
"It's absolutely clear to a military commander that the most vulnerable period is when he is in a period of transition," the general told reporters after the ceremony...The transfer to a multinational force - 9,500 troops from 21 countries, many of whom sent only small contingents - took place in an amphitheater within the ruins of ancient Babylon, now the military headquarters for central Iraq.
The amphitheater was built by Hussein on the ruins of the original theater, which was erected by Alexander the Great around 330 B.C.
The area of the ruins, which tradition holds was the site of the Tower of Babel, seemed to live up to its name on Wednesday, with some speeches in Arabic being translated only into Polish. Poland is the third country, after the United States and Britain, to become an occupying power."
Considering what is prophesied in the Holy Scriptures for the fate of Babylon in thee last days, the pondering of recent events causes one to marvel at the time we are living.
Babylon not only stands in its original site in these last days as was required by God's Word, but has now been elevated to the invading forces central command center and the chosen city to begin the establishment of a multinational presence in Iraq!
Consider the majesty of God as the nations who were originally divided by God at this very place in Genesis Ch. 11 are now being regathered at this same place in preparation for the days of God's judgment. One would think the world would recognize the significance of these developments in light of God's Word, but the truth is the world will not.
Soon something will be found under Babylon that will cause the nations of the world to utterly destroy her with fire. According to the prophecies found in Chapters 50 & 51 of Jeremiah. Proof that something lies buried and shielded from the eyes underneath Babylon is evidenced by the gathering of the nations within her rebuilt walls and God's Word that declares these nations will be used to destroy her. The nations gathering in Babylon will not be attacking themselves when the time of Babylon's destruction comes.
Something is going to drastically change the status quo of these occupying forces when they suddenly go from occupiers of Babylon to her destroyers.
We believe thee gathering troops in Babylon are in the greatest of danger. For when Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction, and perhaps Saddam himself is found concealed under Babylon these forces will be a primary target for elimination and "As Babylon has caused the slain of Israel to fall, so at Babylon the slain of all the earth shall fall" (Jer. 51:49).
It will be after this war, we propose, the Anti-Christ will appear on the world scene to inaugurate the final 7 year period before the return of Jesus Christ with a covenant with Israel.
Today is the day to put your faith in the only Savior Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Jesus can call His Church to heaven at any moment - you don't want to be left behind (I Thess. 4:15-18).
