A small and largely unnoticed war is being waged in Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona. The battle is between evolutionists who require an earth age of millions to billions of years old to make plausible the idea that everything living on earth evolved over vast amounts of time, and a book on creationism, which remains faithful to the revelation from the Word of God that the earth and all of its life came into existence by a direct act of creation apx. 6,000 years ago.
In the article we will be quoting from it should stand out more for what is not said than what is. The complaint lodged against the book portrays the issue to be a problem surrounding the separation of church and state. Reading between the lines one can find that the real issue is that the book titled, "Grand Canyon: A Different View" by Tom Vail presents scientific evidence that contradicts the ridiculous 5 to 6 million year time frame for the formation of the Grand Canyon given by evolutionists and gives sound empirical date which supports that the Canyon was formed thousands, not millions of years ago.
The real problem with the book is that all of the misinformation being spouted by evolutionary geologists is being questioned in such a direct fashion that park employees are unable to explain away all of the inconsistent, erroneous teachings. Rather than continue to face exposure and ridicule before the Word of God and scientific facts they have chosen to demonstrate their total exasperation by instigating for the book to first be moved from the scientific to the inspirational section of park bookstores and then seeking its removal from the park entirely.
The obvious question remains, "If the book is no more than religious nonsense and bad science, why not just write another book addressing its questions and assertions so as to expose its errors and place their brilliant explanations for sale alongside the supposed quackery?" They won't do it for the same reason they can't answer the questions asked by visitors to the park who have read the book, they are stymied and have no intention of admitting their lack of understanding.
Quoting from the Jan. 8, ‘04 Denver Post article which headlined, "Canyon sees creationism fight" we read, "How old is the Grand Canyon? ...rangers at Grand Canyon National Park tell visitors: that the 10-mile-wide chasm in northern Arizona was carved by the Colorado River 5 million to 6 million years ago.
Now, however, a book in the park's bookstores tells another story.
On sale since the summer, "Grand Canyon: A Different View," by veteran Colorado River guide Tom Vail, asserts that the Grand Canyon was formed by the Old Testament flood, the one Noah's Ark survived...The book, which sells for $16.99, includes essays from creationist scientists and theologians. Vail wrote in the introduction, "For years, as a Colorado ‘River guide I told people how the Grand Canyon was formed over the evolutionary time scale of millions of years. Then I met the Lord. Now, I have a different view of the Canyon, which according to a biblical time scale, can't possibly be more than a few thousand years old."
Reaction to the book has been sharply divided. The American Geological institute and seven geo-science organizations sent letters to the park and to agency officials calling for the book to be removed.
In part to appease some outraged Grand Canyon employees, the book was moved from the natural sciences section to the inspirational reading section of park bookstores.
"I've had reactions from the staff all over the board on it," said Deputy Superintendent Kate Cannon. "There were certainly people on the interpretive staff that were upset by it...The creationist book at the Grand Canyon was unanimously approved by a panel of park and gift shop personnel...the book's status at the park is still in question...Meanwhile, the book has sold out and is being reordered. The flap at the Grand Canyon highlights what officials say is a problem for the national park system: how to respect visitors' spiritual views that may directly contradict the agency's accepted scientific presentations and maintain the necessary division of church and state."
The pseudo-science of evolution has made such a devastating impact upon the world's belief in God's claim of miraculous, direct creation that even Christians are trying to find some common ground between evolution and the Word of God. The God they claim to believe in has become vague in their minds as to the true power He possesses.
Many now say that God perhaps used "some form" of evolution when He created man and that the rest of creation was derived from some undetermined, innate substance that for some reason or another previously existed and then came to life.
For those that still believe that God's Word is the standard by which all other perceptions are measured against, we share the following scriptures.
To uphold by the Word of the Lord that man was His direct creation from the earth and did not evolve from apes and so forth, we read in Genesis 2:7, "Then the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul: (Jewish Masoretic Text).
Next, contradicting the absurdity that some kind of eternal cosmic soup exploded then came back together again producing universes and life on earth of every kind, we read in Hebrews 11:3, "By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which are visible."
What is happening in these last days is that faith in God's Word is ever becoming a rare commodity, it is as the Scriptures declare in Romans 1:22 & 25, "Professing to be wise, they became fools...who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever, Amen."
Those who claim to be enlightened evolutionists conveniently overlook the fact that we should find evidence of billions or even trillions of transitional creatures on the earth to support that animals change from one kind into another. Yet no such changes in even one species living today can be found, let alone one in the vast fossil record examined by credible palaeontologists. Why has evolution stopped if evolution demands creatures continually progress to a higher order? For those who require more then just faith to believe God's Word about His power regarding direct supernatural creation we would like to present just one of God's little creatures which exposes the foolishness of evolutionary thought - we give you the Bombardier Beetle.
Quoting Dr. Scott M. Huse from "The Collapse of Evolution" we read the following: "Whenever threatened by an enemy attack, this spirited little beetle blasts irritating and odious gasses, which are at 212 degrees F, out from two tail pipes right into the unfortunate face of the would-be aggressor...the beetle makes his explosive by mixing together two very dangerous chemicals (hydroquinone & hydrogen peroxide).
In addition...this clever little beetle adds...an inhibitor. The inhibitor prevents the chemicals from blowing up and enables the beetle to store the chemicals indefinitely. Whenever our beetle...is approached by a predator...he squirts the stored chemicals into the two combustion tubes, and at precisely the right moment he adds another chemical (an anti-inhibitor). This knocks out the inhibitor, and a violent explosion occurs right in the face of the poor attacker...According to evolutionary "thinking" there must have been thousands of generations of beetles improperly mixing these hazardous chemicals in fatal evolutionary experiments, blowing themselves to pieces...but what about the development of the inhibitor?
There is no need to evolve an inhibitor unless you already have the two chemicals you are trying to inhibit. On the other hand if you already have the two chemicals without the inhibitor, it is already too late, for you have just blown yourself up...Nevertheless, let us assume that our little beetle friend somehow managed to simultaneously develop the two chemicals along with the all-important inhibitor.
The resultant solution would offer no benefit at all to the beetle, for it would just sit there as a harmless concoction. To be of any value to the beetle, the anti-inhibitor must be added to the solution.
So, once again, for thousands of generations we are supposed to believe that these poor beetles mixed and stored these chemicals...until finally, the anti-inhibitor was perfected...With the anti-inhibitor developed he can now blow himself to pieces...Ah yes, he still needs to evolve the two combustion tubes, and a precision communications and timing network to control and adjust the critical direction and timing of the explosion.
So, here we go again; for thousands of generations these carefree little beetles went around...blowing themselves to pieces until finally they mastered their newfound powers...everything in evolution is supposed to make perfect sense and have a logical purpose...But such a process does not make any sense at all, and to propose that the entire defense system evolved all at once is astronomically improbable, if not impossible...Thus, we can only conclude that the surprising little bombardier beetle is a strong witness for special creation, for there is no other rational explanation for such a wonder."
How true are the words of the Psalmist who wrote: "O Lord, how manifold are thy works! In wisdom hast thou made them all; the earth is full of thy riches" (Psa. 104:24).
Keep these facts in mind as mankind increasingly becomes regarded as no more than an animal produced from evolutionary chance...animal populations are numbered and controlled, animals are expendable and used for forced service, animals are experimented on, the young of animals are taken away and sold, inferior animals are culled at birth, old animals are put to death.
We have been warned in II Timothy 3:1, "that in the last days perilous times will come," and in Revelation 13:15-17 during the fast approaching days of the Anti-Christ we are told, "...as many as would not worship the image of the beast [are] to be killed. And he causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name."
These are the last days and perilous times are indeed upon this world. Today is the day to put your faith in Jesus Christ for the promise of His forgiveness and salvation and the hope of His soon appearing to gather His Church to Himself (I Thess. 4:15-18).
